ATTORNEY FRANCYS JOHNSON DEFENDS WILLIAM MARCUS WILSON
Investigation Continues in Shooting Death of Haley Hutcheson
June 26, 2020
After fully cooperating with law enforcement investigating the shooting death of Haley Hutcheson, William Marcus Wilson, 21 years old of Sharpsburg, Georgia, responded to warrants issued by the Statesboro Police Department for one count of Felony Murder and one count of Aggravated Assault. I am honored to represent Mr. Wilson who remains at the Bulloch County Jail pending a Preliminary and Bond Hearing set for July 7, 2020, at 9 am before Bulloch County Superior Court Judge Michael Muldrew.
Despite media releases by the Statesboro Police Department, the investigation into what really happened on Veterans Memorial Parkway is far from over. Each day brings new information about the decedent and actions of the occupants of the vehicle that may have contributed to this tragic incident. Our independent investigation is benefiting tremendously from the information provided to our office by persons in the community.
It is critically important to remember every person accused of a crime is innocent until proven guilty beyond any reasonable doubt. As such, the community should not rush to judgment in this case. As other investigative steps remain in progress, anyone with additional facts concerning the case, the decedent, or the other occupants should contact the Statesboro Police Department at 912-764-9911.
Finally, the Wilson family is grateful for the strong support they have received during this difficult time. Please be aware the Wilsons have not authorized any online fundraising campaigns and discourage the public from supporting those efforts.
